Link an event to a venue

Updated August 20, 2026

Match your event to a venue so it shows on that venue's page — and so the address fills itself in.

Linking your event to a venue does two things: the event gets listed on that venue's page, and it lands in front of everyone following the venue. It's one of the easiest ways to reach past your own community.

While creating an event — or in the Location tab of an event's settings — start typing the address. As you type, matching venues appear as their own group at the top of the list, with Google's address suggestions below them.

Pick the venue and the address, coordinates, and city fill in from the venue's own details; a note under the field reads "Filled from the venue — you can edit this". Only empty fields are filled: if you already typed "Hall B, 3rd floor", that stays.

Choosing a venue is optional, and the field doesn't appear at all for online events.

Does it show up right away?

Being linked doesn't mean being listed.

  • If the venue keeps "Events show up right away" on, your event appears on its page immediately.
  • If not, it waits for a venue manager to approve it. You'll see that as a note when you pick the venue: "This venue reviews events before showing them on its page."

Either way your event is live on its own page and in your community as usual. The venue is an extra shop window, nothing more.

Changing or removing it later

The Location tab lets you swap the venue or clear it entirely. Save, and the link moves with it.

If something goes wrong while the event is being created, you'll see a warning: "Event created, but it couldn't be linked to the venue." Nothing is lost — pick the venue again in settings.

A venue manager can take your event off their page. That doesn't touch your event; it just stops showing there.
