Verification and badges

You may see two marks beside a name on Gathin: a verification tick and a community logo. You manage both from the Badges section in Settings. In the app, open Settings from the Profile tab with the gear icon and tap the Verification and badges row.

The verification tick

The tick says Gathin has verified the account — that the name really is the person's.

You apply from the Verified account card in the Badges section. Briefly say who you are in Application note, add links that show who you are in Links, one per line, and tap Apply for verification. Links that show who you are speed up your application. Your request is reviewed and you get the outcome as a notification. If it's approved, the tick appears on your profile, on your comments, in attendee lists — everywhere your name shows.

If it's declined, the reason is in the notification and on the same card. You can fix what was missing and apply again.

Some accounts show a Friend of Gathin mark in place of the tick. It is a separate level of verification given by the Gathin team; you cannot apply for it. It sits in the same place and at the same size as the tick.

The tick always sits leftmost. When an account carries all three marks the order doesn't change, so a reader always looks for the tick in the same place.

The community badge

You can wear the logo of a community you run beside your name. It's the short way of saying "this person is one of the people behind that community."

This badge is only for premium communities, and you pick from the communities you administer. If you have none, the card says No premium communities. If you run more than one, you choose which to wear with Use on the Company badge card in the Badges section — one at a time.

Hovering the logo shows the community's name, and you can go to the community's page from there.

You can take the badge off with Remove whenever you like (in the app, by choosing No badge). Removing it doesn't affect your role in the community; it only takes the logo off your name.

Badges aren't earned once and forgotten

Both are re-checked every time they're shown. If your verification is withdrawn, or a community's plan changes, the mark comes off by itself. There's no state where it shows in one place and not another.
