Verification and badges

You may see two marks beside a name on Gathin: a verification tick and a community logo. You manage both from the Badges screen in your account.

The verification tick

The tick says Gathin has verified the account — that the name really is the person's.

You apply from the Badges screen. Your request is reviewed and you get the outcome as a notification. If it's approved, the tick appears on your profile, on your comments, in attendee lists — everywhere your name shows.

If it's declined, the reason is in the notification. You can fix what was missing and apply again.

The tick always sits leftmost. When an account carries all three marks the order doesn't change, so a reader always looks for the tick in the same place.

The community badge

You can wear the logo of a community you run beside your name. It's the short way of saying "this person is one of the people behind that community."

This badge is for communities on the Pro plan, and you can only pick from communities you administer. If you run more than one, you choose which to wear on the Badges screen — one at a time.

Hovering the logo shows the community's name, and you can go to the community's page from there.

You can take the badge off whenever you like. Removing it doesn't affect your role in the community; it only takes the logo off your name.

Badges aren't earned once and forgotten

Both are re-checked every time they're shown. If your verification is withdrawn, or a community's plan changes, the mark comes off by itself. There's no state where it shows in one place and not another.
