Free vs paid events

Updated August 3, 2026

The difference between joining a free event and buying a paid ticket.

Gathin has two kinds of events: free ones, and ones where you buy a ticket. How you join depends on which it is.

Free events

A free event has no payment. All you do is save your spot, which is called registering or RSVP.

To join, you tap the button on the event page. You are added to the list right away and you get your ticket with a QR code. No card or extra details are asked for.

Some free events have limited spots. If the spots are full, a waitlist opens. If you put yourself on it, you are notified when a spot frees up or your place is approved.

For a paid event, you buy a ticket first. Prices are shown in Turkish Lira (TL).

The steps are:

  • Choose the ticket type and how many you want.
  • Enter the attendee details, such as name and email.
  • Enter your card details on the payment screen and finish the payment.

Once the payment goes through, your ticket is ready and the QR code appears on screen. Just like with free events, you show this code at the door.

How to tell which one it is

Looking at the event page makes the difference clear. A free event shows a single join button. A paid event lists the ticket options with their prices.
