Language and theme

You can use Gathin in six languages and pick one of four looks. You can change both from the user menu at the top right, or on the Preferences page in Settings.

From the user menu

Tap your profile photo at the top right to open the menu, then expand the Preferences row. It shows a Theme row and a Language row.

• The switch on the Theme row flips between light and dark. Tap the row itself to pick a kind of dark theme: Dark, AMOLED or High contrast.
• The Language row opens six options: English, Türkçe, Español, Deutsch, Italiano, Français. A checkmark shows next to the language you pick, and the page switches to it right away.

On the marketing pages, such as the home page when you are signed out or this guide, the language picker is the globe icon in the top bar. That way you can change the language without signing in. Even when you are signed in, the Language row is not in the user menu on these pages; you pick the language from the globe icon.

The Preferences page

Open Settings from the user menu and pick Preferences in the list on the right. On a phone, every settings section sits on one page as a heading that opens and closes; tap Preferences. It has two parts:

• Appearance: small previews of the four themes. Tap the Light, Dark, AMOLED or High contrast card to choose it.
• Language: the six languages with their flags. The selected one has a checkmark.

AMOLED uses a pure black background, and high contrast makes text and lines stand out more. Both are kinds of dark theme; if you flip to light with the switch in the menu and back again, the last dark kind you picked comes back.

In the app

In the app, go to the Profile tab and open Settings with the gear icon at the top right. The Preferences section has Appearance and Language rows. Appearance has the same four themes plus a Match system switch. While it is on, the app follows your phone's light or dark setting; this choice stays on that phone only.

Where your choices are kept

The language and theme you pick are first kept on the device you are using. When you sign in, they are also written to your account, so the same language and theme greet you when you sign in from another device.

If your account already has a saved language or theme, it takes effect the moment you sign in and can override the choice on that device.

When you first open Gathin, it follows your device's system preference. If your system is set to light, it shows light, otherwise dark. Once you pick a theme yourself, your choice takes over.
