Create an event

Updated August 5, 2026

Create a new event from the Events area in your community's admin panel.

Events always belong to a community. You create a new event from the admin panel of the community you manage.

Go to the Events area

Open your community in the admin panel and go to Events in the left menu. This area lists all of your community's events.

Press the Create event button in the top right. The create form opens on the same page.

Basic details

First you set up the event's identity:

  • Cover image: Upload an image in 16:9. This shows at the top of your event page.
  • Title: Write a short, clear name.
  • Description: Explain what will happen. You can format the text and add headings and lists.

Date, time, and place

Pick the start date and time. If you leave the end empty, it fills in three hours after the start, and you can adjust it however you like.

If the event is in person, leave Online Event off and pick the location on the map. If it is online, turn the toggle on and either paste a link or create a built-in video room with one click.

Participation type

There are two options:

  • Ticket entry: Attendees join by getting a ticket. You define free or paid tickets afterward.
  • RSVP entry: Attendees say "I'm coming" with one tap. You do not need to define separate tickets.

You also set here when ticket sales or registration begins. Once the event exists, you can add a capacity limit, a waitlist, and control who can see it — see Registration, capacity, and waitlist.

Add organizers

You are added as an organizer automatically. You can also add other people here who will manage the event with you. To co-host the event with another community or add sponsors, see Co-hosting and sponsors.

Registration form

You can require attendees to answer a form — questions of your choosing — before their ticket is issued. Set this up from the event's Registration form area, under the Registrations group; the event is pre-selected for you. Their answers then collect alongside the event. See What forms are for and Reading form responses.

When you are ready, press Create event. Your event is created, and you can start editing the other areas such as tickets, schedule, and speakers. Once it is live, attendees can add it to their calendar (see Add to your calendar), and after it runs you can recognize attendees with certificates and badges.
