Running an ecosystem

Your ecosystem's panel opens when you swap /ecosystem/ for /admin/ecosystems/ in its page's address: if your page is /ecosystem/example-network, your panel is at /admin/ecosystems/example-network. Only the Gathin team sees the Ecosystems tab in the admin panel, so keep your panel's link somewhere handy.

How the panel is laid out

The dark menu on the left has five places: Overview, Applications, Communities, Events, and Settings. View page, at the end of the top bar, opens the live public page in a new tab. Use it — the panel shows you the parts, and that page is the thing people actually get.

You can collapse the menu to icons with the button in the top bar; on a phone, the menu slides in from the side when you tap the menu button at the left of the top bar. The ? button beside each page's title walks you through that page.

Overview

Four figures, and the fourth is the one that matters: Applications. It is the only thing here with a clock on it — click it and you go straight to the decisions waiting for you. The other three (Communities, Events, Attendees) are the state of things, and they can be looked at whenever.

The attendee figure counts a person once across the whole ecosystem, however many of its communities they belong to. Review applications, below the figures, also takes you to the applications.

Applications

Every request to join, in three tabs: Pending, Approved, Rejected. Each row gives the applicant's name and says whether it's a Community or an Event.

Approve puts it in immediately. Reject declines it. Apart from what Gathin adds directly, nothing enters an ecosystem without passing through here.

Communities

Under In this ecosystem, every community in the ecosystem is listed with its member count and how it got in (applied or added directly).

Once a community is in, its events show on the ecosystem's page too; they don't each need to apply.

Adding a community without an application, and taking one out, is for Gathin's platform admins. They see an Attach directly section on this page: they search for the community by name, bring it in with Add, and take it out with Remove in the list. If you want a community added or removed, write to us.

Events

The events on the ecosystem's page, with their dates: the events of the communities inside it, and events that applied on their own and were approved, or were added. If the list is long, Load More brings the rest.

As with communities, adding or removing an event directly is for Gathin's platform admins: they search for the event by name and use Add or Remove. An event that came in with its community is marked Community event and has no Remove: it stays for as long as its community does.

Settings

The public page's own material:

• Banner and Logo — upload and crop them here. The cover is very wide (5 to 1), so give it something that survives being wide.
• Name — the ecosystem's name.
• Short description — the line under the name.
• About — the longer text, shown at the side of the page.
• Links — the network's site and social accounts, shown as icons under the description.

Save, top right, commits your edits; everything here is public the moment you save it. The page's address (the /ecosystem/… part of the link) isn't here — it's set when the ecosystem is opened and doesn't change.

At the bottom is the Admins section: type a person's name and pick them from the results to add them as an admin. Admins can edit these details and decide on applications. Only the owner can add or remove one, and the owner cannot be removed.
