Running an ecosystem

If you run an ecosystem it appears under Ecosystems in your admin panel. Open it and you get a panel with its own sections down the left.

Overview

Four figures, and the fourth is the one that matters: Applications. It is the only thing here with a clock on it — click it and you go straight to the decisions waiting for you. The other three (communities, events, attendees) are the state of things, and they can be looked at whenever.

The attendee figure counts a person once across the whole ecosystem, however many of its communities they belong to.

Applications

Every request to join, in three tabs: Pending, Approved, Rejected. Each row says what is asking — a community or an event — and who sent it.

Approve puts it in immediately. Reject declines it. Nothing enters an ecosystem without passing through here, or without you adding it directly.

Communities

Everyone in the ecosystem, with a Remove on each. If you are a Gathin platform admin you can also add a community here directly, without an application.

Adding a community does not bring its events. Those are attached one at a time, in the next section.

Events

The events on the ecosystem's page, each removable. Same rule in reverse: an event is here because it was applied for or added, never because its community joined.

Admins

Who else can run this. Admins can edit the details and decide on applications. Only the owner adds or removes an admin, and the owner cannot be removed.

Settings

The public page's own material:

• Name and address — the address is the /ecosystem/… link, and unlike the name it cannot be changed later.
• Logo and cover — upload and crop them here. The cover is wide, so give it something that survives being wide.
• Short description — the line under the name.
• About — the longer text.
• Links — the network's site and social accounts, shown as icons under the description.

Everything here is public the moment you save it.

Seeing it as a visitor

View page in the header opens the live public page in a new tab. Use it — the panel shows you the parts, and that page is the thing people actually get.
