Creating a community
Updated August 5, 2026
A community is where you bring people together. You announce your events here, keep your members under one roof, and stay in touch with them.
What a community is for
A community is the home for your brand or group on Gathin. The events you run are attached to this community, and everyone who joins shows up in your member list.
You can open a community for a single event or for a group that meets regularly. Either way, a community is your starting point.
Creating your community
To start a new community, go to /communities/create. The form asks for:
- Community name (required): The name people will know you by.
- Description: A few sentences about what your community is about.
- City: You can pick your city from the list.
- Category: Choose a category so the right people can find you.
- Logo and banner image: The logo is square (1:1) and the banner image is a wide band (3:1).
Once you fill it in and press the create button, you land on your new community.
Public or private
The visibility option decides who can reach your community.
- Public: Anyone can discover your community and join.
- Private: Only people you invite or whose join request you approve can enter.
You can change this later from your community settings.
After you create it
As the person who set it up, you become the owner. You can edit everything from the logo to bank details in the settings area of your admin panel, manage your members, and start adding your first event.
