Find an event and join

Gathin has hundreds of events. Finding the right one, opening its page, and saving your spot takes a few minutes.

Discover events

When you go to the events page, you see every upcoming event. Workshops, meetups, conferences, and community gatherings are all listed here.

There are a few ways to narrow things down:

• Type the event name or a keyword into the search box.
• Filter by event type: all, in person, or online.
• Filter by date to see events on certain days only.
• Switch to the map view to find events near you.

Past events do not show up in the list, so everything you see is either happening now or coming up.

Venues in the top menu is a different way in: you start from where an event is rather than from who is running it. A campus or a cultural centre has a page of its own gathering everything held there, whichever community organized it — see what a venue is.

Open the event page

Tapping an event opens its page. Here you find the cover image, the date and time, the location, the description, and the community running it. You can also see who is going.

If you want to find the event again later, you can save it. Saved events stay in your account — reach them from the Saved tab on your profile or the My Saved Events link in the footer.

If you want to collect the events you are going to and share the collection, put them in a list instead — lists take events from outside Gathin too (what lists are for).

Register or join

To save your spot, you may need to sign in first. If you do not have an account, you can create one quickly.

What happens next depends on the event:

• If the event is free, you join with a single tap and there is no payment.
• If the event is paid, you pick your ticket first, then pay. Prices are shown in Turkish Lira (TL).

Some events ask you to fill out a short registration form before your ticket is issued. Just answer the questions and continue.

Once you join, you get a ticket with a QR code. You will show this at the door.

Share the event

If you want to tell people about an event you like, the Share button on its page gives you a link, a QR code, and a ready-made poster — see Share an event and make a poster.

Mobile app

Using a discount code

If an organizer gave you a discount code, pick your tickets and then type it into Have a discount code? and press Apply. If it works, the old total appears struck through beside the new one, and the new one is what you pay.

A few things worth knowing:

• A code is for one ticket type. If you have picked two different types, the field does not appear; stay on one type to use a code.
• Changing how many tickets you are buying drops the code, because the discounted total was worked out for that number. What you typed stays in the box, so re-applying is one press.
• If a code does not work we say why: it has expired, it has been used up, or you have used it before.
• Free tickets do not take codes.

The discounted total is worked out on the server, not in your browser, and travels to the payment step signed — so the price you were shown is always the price you pay.
