What a segment is
A segment is a tag you give your members, for example "VIP", "Volunteer", or "Speaker". When you tag a member, they collect in that segment, and you can see how many people are in it.
Segments are not a ranking or a status. They are simply a way to group your members however makes sense to you.
What they are for today is keeping a large member list organized: you tag people on the Members and participants lists — one at a time or several at once with a bulk action — then filter and find those groups quickly when you need them.
Creating and managing segments
On the Segments page you create a new segment by typing a name and adding it. Each segment in the list shows its member count. Click a segment to see the people inside it.
You can rename or delete any segment. When you delete a segment, that tag is removed from all members, but the members stay in your community.
Adding members to segments
You add people to segments from the Members page. You tag a member from their row, or select several members and tag them in bulk.
