Reading form responses

Once answers start coming in, open a form to see its results. Open it from the Forms list, or, for an event registration form, from the event's Registration form area.

Summary

The top of the results gives you the headline numbers: views, total submissions, unique submitters, completion rate, the last submission time, and the average fill time. A small chart shows submissions over time, so you can see when interest peaked.

Views is how many times the form's public page was opened — the denominator you read the submission count against. Seven responses means one thing against nine opens and something else entirely against nine hundred. A wide gap says the form is either too long or reaching the wrong people.

Opening the form doesn't require signing in, though sending it does; people who read the form and give up are counted as views too. Views running ahead of submissions is normal.

Results by question

Below the summary, every question gets its own chart, matched to the kind of answer:

• Dropdown and single choice show a donut chart with each option's share.
• Multiple choice shows a bar chart.
• Number shows a distribution with the minimum, average, and maximum.
• Date shows a timeline.
• Consent shows how many accepted versus declined.
• Text answers show how many people replied, how varied the answers are, and a few sample responses.

Click into a single question to see every answer to it, newest first.

Every response

The all responses table lists every response as its own row: who submitted it, when, and their answer to each question. It's the full picture when you need to read individual answers rather than the totals.

The table is wide, so long answers are truncated in the cell; hover over one to see it in full.

To read everything one person said, click their row. Their submission opens rendered on the form they sent it to: every question with its own heading, every answer untruncated. No hunting for column headings three screens to the left.

The preview is drawn from the submission's own snapshot, not from today's version of the form. Even if you later reword a question or drop an option, an old answer is read alongside the question that person actually saw.

Export to Excel

The responses table has an Export button that builds an Excel file. Choose Export all to include every column, or Customize export to pick exactly which questions come along. Choice answers come out as their labels and consent as a checkmark, so the file is ready to read or share.
